Fall Prevention

Stay On Your Feet...  BE ACTIVE

Exercising in swimming poolThe best way to reduce your risk of falling is to be physically active. Choose an activity that you enjoy- that way you’ll stick to it!

How Much?

Aim for at least 30 minutes of activity a day. You can do your activity all at once or break it up into 15 minute segments. Start slow and build up ↑

What Can You Do?

Be sure to choose activities that increase muscle strength in your legs and upper body- improve your balance, posture and stamina.

Here are some examples:

  • Walking
  • Gardening & Housework
  • Tai Chi, Yoga or Pilates
  • Swimming
  • Golfing
  • Cycling

JOIN STAND UP!

What Is Stand Up?

Well, it is a free exercise and information program for older adults that runs twice a week for 12 weeks. The STAND UP! Exercises are safe and they are adapted to your abilities.
