As we head into Fall, we are faced with busier routines and more demands on our time. Sometimes we forget to do daily self-care. Self-care can be as simple as doing some breathing. The benefits of a few practiced breathes can calm racing minds, lower blood pressure and relax muscle tension.
Let’s start with belly breathing,
- Sit or lie flat in a comfortable position for you.
- Put one hand on your chest and the other on your belly.
- Take a deep breath in through your nose, and feel your belly push out as you inhale. Don’t over inhale or you could feel dizzy.
- Push out your breathe through pursed lips as if you were whistling. Feel your hand on your belly go in as you exhale.
Do this breathing 3 to 10 times. Take your time with each breath and notice how you feel at the end of the exercise.
